Enjoy a nature photography holiday with luxurious on-site accommodation
Enjoy a peaceful holiday amongst nature at Les Teyssonnières, located in the Causses du Quercy Regional Park in South West France. Our two beautiful gîtes are set in twelve hectares of forest and meadow. It is the perfect location for wildlife, landscape and astro photography. Or you can just take a holiday!
We have wildlife hides (affûts) available to book and bespoke workshops and tuition are offered by resident pro photographer Simon Phillpotts.
The Concept
Quercy Photo Holidays is based at our home, Les Teyssonnières. It is a place where people can visit for a quiet and peaceful holiday, set in stunning surroundings, with beautiful places nearby.
In addition……we also saw the opportunity to make a special place for photographers. New habitats were created for wildlife and we built bird photography hides (Affûts). We nurtured butterfly and insect filled meadows for limitless macro photography. We also have some of the darkest skies in Europe for astro photographers and the most amazing landscape, gorges and medieval villages for landscape photographers.
Just book your accommodation and then you can choose how little or much you wish to do. Whether you would like to use our hides (Affûts), take part in a one-to-one workshop to improve your photography, or come with us on a day out to visit a special nature site for example.
How can I put it? Everything is perfect and even more! A huge thank you to Sarah & Simon who made this place so lovely. The cottage is beautifully equipped; everything is there for a wonderful stay. Ideal for a peaceful holiday surrounded by nature. The only downside is having to leave.

Immaculately presented and very comfortable property in a quiet open woodland setting. Great kitchen facilities with excellent range of equipment, well thought out. Lovely outside spaces to sit and listen to the peace and quiet – and the busy cuckoos! Wildlife around if you take the time to look and listen, or walk quietly round the grounds. Easy access to Cirq St Lapopie for sightseeing and walking; Figeac (an unexpected gem) and Cahors in easy reach, as well as Pech Merle (an essential visit). Friendly and welcoming hosts, very responsive if queries arise. Would strongly recommend.
We both agree that we have not ever had the privilege of staying in such a beautiful peaceful place in France. The gite is perfect and being photographers we very much enjoyed the surrounding nature and made good use of the hides and reflection pools.Sarah and Simon made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. A great deal of thought and hard work has gone into creating this wildlife haven. We really hope to return for a longer stay.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at La Grange, one of the two gites that owners Sarah and Simon have created from a lovely old barn at Les Teyssonieres. They’ve put a lot of effort into making it a comfortable place, and it’s set in wonderful oak woodland, a tranquil haven for wildlife. As an enthusiastic photographer I had a lot of fun taking pictures at Simon’s well thought-out hides, and got some passable shots of bathing jays, sparrowhawks, blackbirds and a beautiful pair of cirl buntings – a real treat! I found a 100-400 zoom on a silent mirrorless camera a useful combination… What impressed us most was the knowledge and dedication our hosts have for wildlife – very much in tune with our own feelings… All in all a very enjoyable experience.
We had a very nice stay at Les Teyssonnieres. The accommodation was excellent. The hosts were friendly and very helpful. It’s a very peaceful place in the heart of nature, with lots of wildlife, whether looking through the windows or walking in the woodland. Birds, butterflies, plants and insects. Can’t wait to return in the near future.
